Approximately 700 species of fossil shells are known from the coasts of the Netherlands. Most have been reworked from mostly Quaternary and Pliocene strata. This site aims to assemble and disperse data on these fossil molluscs in cooperation with the numerous amateur scientists involved this subject.

Ongeveer 700 soorten fossiele schelpen zijn bekend van de Nederlandse kust. De meeste soorten zijn afkomstig uit Kwartaire en Pliocene lagen. Via deze webstek willen we kennis en gegevens van deze schelpen bijeenbrengen en beschikbaar maken, in samenwerking met de vele liefhebbers die zich bezighouden met fossiele strandschelpen.
